Let's introduce ourselves
We’re the UK’s fourth largest supermarket, with over 990 stores across the UK and we’ll open our 1000th store in 2023 (not to mention our growing global presence). But we know our success has only been possible thanks to our amazing Aldi colleagues. That's why we celebrate everyone's achievements, offer competitive pay and create great working environments. And that's how we've become a multi award-winning employer - but it's the least we can do. We know that our people make Aldi mean even more.
About Aldi's Distribution Centres
We couldn’t operate without our incredible Warehouse and Transport teams. They get the right products, to the right places, at the right time. And everything is always in perfect condition. There’s no denying it’s a fast-paced environment, but it’s also incredibly supportive. It means there are so many more benefits than just a great salary. It’s no wonder so many of our colleagues have gone on to develop amazing careers.
We’ve now got eleven Regional Distribution Centres (RDCs) throughout the UK. They all focus on getting great quality products to our stores. But it’s a huge task, which is why every RDC is split into four key areas: Transport, Warehouse, Maintenance and Quality Control. So just how do we keep things running so smoothly? With a lot of trust and support. Everyone is respected and listened to, and they know exactly what’s expected of them. So while people join for the hard-working team spirit and Aldi culture, they stay for much more.
We look after our colleagues. So you can expect a competitive salary, an energetic environment, and friendly teams.
Our warehouses are vast, so there are lots of different roles. From our Managers to our Cleaners, everybody has the same thing in common – they’re all essential. Everyone plays a part in getting our products into every store so we can deliver for our customers. We’ve got excellent hourly pay for daytime roles, and if you choose to work during the night or in the freezer section, the pay’s even higher.
There are seven key roles here, from HGV Drivers to Gatehouse Security Guards. There’s plenty of variety and challenge, in an environment you might not expect. It’s collaborative, not competitive. It’s supportive and inclusive. If you want to become a Transport Deputy or Driver, you’ll need a Cat C+E (Class 1) licence. But for all other roles, as long as you have the right attitude, you’ll fit right in.
The equipment in our Regional Distribution Centres is designed to operate to the highest standard. But if anything breaks or goes wrong, it can have a huge impact on our stores and customers. That’s why our in-house Maintenance teams are so important. They maintain the building and keep a varied fleet of forklift trucks, vehicles and other equipment in tip-top condition. These are really challenging and satisfying roles.
Our Quality Control Leaders, Deputies and Assistants are real sticklers for perfection, with eagle eyes to match. From cut flowers to cauliflowers, the team inspect all of our short-life products, making sure everything meets both legal standards, and our own high expectations. Whether the team are in the warehouse checking pallets or out meeting suppliers, the work is all about quality. It’s crucial in helping to keep our customers happy
